GMO FREE ORDINANCE IN THE WORKS FOR THE 2008 ELECTIONThe Committee for Humboldt Green Genes is currently working on a county wide GMO free ordinance for the 2008 ballot.We have been working with national organizers and their lawyers to get the language right. The ordinance will be written so that corporations selling GMO seeds can be held financially liable for cross contamination due to pollen drift - not the farmer. Our campaign has the financial resources that we will need to win. Our current account balance stands at about $9,000. We also have a $20,000 grant promised to us once we are on the ballot.
